North of Sundsvall, a city with almost 100,000 inhabitants, begins the High Coast – the destination of our cruise this year. After approximately 800 nautical miles, SY Blue Layla enters the World Heritage Site, where land uplift (currently 8mm per year) has created a stunning coastal landscape. But first, there’s a crew change in Sundsvall, the Dragon City – lots of pop-art dragons there, and Sweden’s longest motorway bridge.
After a stay in the big city, SY Blue Layla first hides in an anchorage on the remote island of Åstön before heading into the waters of the Höga Kusten the next day.
Ulvön, Höga Kusten.
